Welcome to Wild Words for grief. I'm so glad that you've found your way here, and I am deeply sorry for your loss.
ABOUT ME
I thought I knew grief. After all, I’ve experienced many losses - and had even worked in children and adult hospice settings for almost a decade. Yet, nothing could prepare me for the tragic death of my beloved sister; only 2 months after the sudden death of our father. Those deaths left me reeling, stumbling through a shattered world that seemed to have no idea how to support someone in grief.
I quickly realized that in order to counter the mostly unhelpful responses from others, I would need to educate myself even more. So, in addition to personal bereavement support, I obtained multiple grief education certifications. I also saw how my journal writing and mindfulness training (which I instinctively adapted for grief) was playing a pivotal role in my journey. These empowering tools have helped me cope with the ongoing complexities of loss.
Wild Words for Grief is a labour of love, a vocation, an evolving affirmation of who I am becoming. As a writer, facilitator, grief educator and mindfulness teacher with training in trauma-sensitive practices, I take this work seriously.
And I am also here as a fellow story-tender, trudging through the strange and delicate landscape of loss. Join me as we gather at this quiet portal nestled at the intersection of life, death and possibility.
Let’s explore our Wild Words for Grief together.

This is a gentle and reverent space to explore mindfulness and journal writing practices and content tailored to grief.
I created this community in order to share these precious prompts and reflections which, while informed by my background and training, are sourced by grief itself. I know first-hand what we are up against in living with the day-to-day realities of loss. While we can’t fix a grief-illiterate society, we can explore ways to support ourselves by cultivating our capacity for agency and self-compassion.
WHY WILD WORDS?
I equate the word ‘wild’ with freedom, power and authenticity. I believe we have an inherent right to explore the unfolding tapestry of our lives, and to reclaim our emergent voices. When our world has been shattered by death, this is even more essential.
Writing can be both a practical and mysterious endeavor. Story is a wild and intelligent force that knows how to track the fragments of past, present and possible future; weaving them into a vital narrative that can orient us toward wholeness.
A Wild Words for Grief practice can help us gently sift through the shards of our shattered reality, while attuning to the whispers of some deeper story that slowly reveals itself through the secret language of loss.
What if mindfulness and journal writing could help us accompany our grief rather than trying to overcome it? What if we became the sacred witness to our wild, unfolding tale?
My intention is to provide nourishment and validation for the many challenges we encounter in grief. The content and practices I offer here can help you acknowledge the ways you are already showing up for yourself, and explore new ways to attend to the ever-changing nuances of loss.
My deepest wish for this community is that we might:
Affirm our right to grieve in our own way, in our own time.
Remember our wholeness, even when feeling broken.
Discover ways to connect to that which longs to be known.

Disclaimer:
This community is educational and not intended as therapy. It is recommended that grievers have personal supports in place. Those who feel the need to share details of their story may also choose to attend a grief support group and/or counselling.
The goal is to create a safe-as-possible space where members can cultivate their own grief-sensitive writing and mindfulness practice. For this reason, we have created a set of community guidelines that include: Not giving unsolicited advice, comparing losses, or sharing graphic details (which may be activating for others).
*All personal posts and stories reflect the insights & experiences of the author.
