Autumn at the River
Soothed by freedom & rhyme
While I haven’t previously been drawn to writing poetry, my mind feels calmed lately by playing with rhythm & rhyme. Writing is all about freedom, so please view my humble experiment as an invitation to let your own wild words guide you to unexpected destinations! ♥
Autumn at the River
When grief demands attention, the river draws me near.
Currents of calm and comfort to soothe the mind of fear.
Grasses shine and eagles soar on vibrant, airy wings.
Driftwood sways like lullabies and half-remembered dreams.Steady me, oh timeless realm of soil, sky and sea.
Enchant me with your otherness, reveal the heart of me.Isn’t the face of the sacred all there really is?
This simple sun, this trusty water, this gently rising wind.
Look, there goes a fishing boat with ripples in its wake.
Here comes a duo of snuffling dogs intent on finding sticks.
The only course of action is to seek the wild and free.
To claim my rightful place in the community of WE.
Seagulls bob in dignified poses. Story stirs the page.
Love and absence, intertwined, ripening with age.Autumn light, infuse my soul with radiance and wisdom.
Guide me home to earthly ways, without requiring anything.
Water, sun, wind, moon, all that defies definition.
Nothing to see, but this right here.
Nothing to do but listen.
